Outi Rekola appointed MTV’s Sales Director

MTV has appointed Outi Rekola as the company’s new sales director. She will be in charge of media sales. Before joining MTV, Rekola worked in leading roles in sales and marketing at Bauer Media and its predecessors for 17 years. Her last position at Bauer Media was as commercial director.

When recruiting the new sales director, MTV placed emphasis on experience in media sales and related management duties. “We carefully weighed our options and soon realised that in the current market situation, a knowledge of customers, agencies and the media is vital,” says Sami Vikback, MTV’s Vice President for advertising-led business. “Outi has vast experience of media sales in a challenging environment.”

In her last project as commercial director at Bauer Media, Rekola oversaw the integration of the sales organisations after the acquisition of Radio Nova’s business operations. After the acquisition, Bauer Media turned from a challenger into the market leader.

Vikback explains that Rekola’s appointment is also an attempt to achieve a long-term perspective for MTV’s media sales: “Outi is well used to changes as she has seen Bauer Media changing hands a number of times. Despite the changes, she has led the troops through it all successfully. Our aim is to be the best sales organisation in Finland, and I trust that Outi can deliver.”

Rekola says that being in charge of the sales at MTV and the accompanying targets is a challenge that can be won: “MTV is a fine company with a great history. I want to be part of the team that makes its future even better. I know that the company has gone through some stormy times, but I know that this job has a huge potential. The demand for TV and digital advertising is on the increase in Europe, and I don’t see why it shouldn’t be here too.”

Outi Rekola will join MTV on 7 August 2017.
