Pekka Haavisto ei takeltele englanniksi hankalissakaan aiheissa
Vihreiden presidenttiehdokas Pekka Haavisto puhuu englantia sujuvasti eikä takeltele hankalissakaan aiheissa.
MTV3:n Huomenta Suomen englanninkielisessä tentissä uutistoimisto AP:n skandinavian kirjeenvaihtaja David Mac Dougall kysyi Haavistolta muun muassa hänen puolisonsa rattijuopumuksesta.
Myös monitahoiset poliittiset kysymykset Haavisto selvittää vaivatta.
Tässä Mac Dougallin arvio:
A career at the United Nations, as well as in domestic Finnish politics, means candidate Pekka Haavisto has a lot of key relevant experience to be president.
Working at the UN, Haavisto has lead missions to a number of war-torn nations, and says he still works on international affairs and keeps up with issues like the Arab Spring happening in the Middle East.
In the past week, Haavisto has been hit with a domestic scandal, when his spouse was jailed for a drink driving offense in his home country. However, Haavisto was able to talk clearly about this difficult issue in English and explain what happened.
Environmental issues are still very much at the heart of Haavisto's campaign, he says that while other mainstream parties have incorporated a green agenda into their politics, the strength of his party is that the environment is at the top of their agenda.
Pekka Haavisto is clearly very comfortable handling complex English-language issues across a range of subjects, and would have no problem representing Finland abroad if he became President.
